The Moot programme concept development has been inspired by the spirit of discovery, innovation, diversity, mentorship & leadership development, opportunities for livelihood, international citizenship, religion, development, peace, service to others, environment, education and scouting for those in difficuit circumstances. The Moot programme will be composed of the following:
- Four days community service and community development in the Expedition centres and their environs especially in the area of environment, development, health,and education with active travelling, intercultural experiences and African adventure (safari) in the wilderness.
- Four days main camp activities to share your respective projects, exchange handicrafts, take part in activities at the Global Development Village [GDV] enrich your experiences, learn more about the issues of today’s world, meet various leaders (business, religious, political, civic, NGO, etc) appreciate and celebrate international diversity.
- The Moot programme will also provide opportunities for leadership skills development, teamwork, exploitation of potentials & talents, decision making and mentorship through challenging activities
- Promotion of the Scout of the World Award Programme in the areas of Peace, Development and Environment as a step towards addressing the MDGs [Millennium Development Goals]
- The other key elements of the programme will include welcome and farewell ceremonies, free time to meet fellow participants informally and home hospitality after the event for the interested individuals.
All the activities will be centered on the following topics:
International co-operation and understanding
The participants will experience the Kenyan social-cultural diversity and interact with different Kenya people across in five provinces [Expedition Centres] and establish facets for future learning cooperation
Community service and community development
The rovers will participate in community projects centered on environmental conservation, wild life management and hygiene, health assistance provision and working with those with special needs
Adventure in the wilderness
The participants will learn how to navigate themselves in “the concrete jungle” of the Kenyan “commuter maze” by using a “matatu” (commuter taxi) in addition they will have an opportunity to navigate the Equatorial forest, the expansive Lake Victoria with fishermen and the vast Kenyan Nyika plateau using minimal instruments and limited instructions.
Leadership development
Through expeditions, fun activities, community service and involvement in learning local conflict resolution mechanism, the rover-mate system builds leadership skills in tune with new leadership methods and technologies.
