International Service Team (IST)

Everyone participating in the World Scout Moot has to be a member of a National Scout Organization that is part of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM). To check if your organization or association is a member, access the list of National Scout Organizations on the WOSM website.

To join in the International Service Team (IST) at the 13th World Scout Moot in Kenya 2010, you must be an active Scout, and you need to have turned 26 at the start of the camp.

Members of the IST should be able to speak English and/or French and be prepared to take on any task needed to run the Moot. IST must arrive on site 24th July 2010 and can leave 8th August 2010.

The 13th World Scout Moot in Kenya 2010 will have about 400 Scouts working on the International Service Team. These older Scouts will help with all areas of the Moot, making it possible for us to deliver a fantastic experience to all our participants.

To apply to come to the World Scout Moot, you need to register with the contingent of Scouts from your country who are preparing to join the Moot. These groups are called National Contingents. The National Contingents will probably start their preparations early, so keep an eye out for information in your national newsletters, scout magazines, and on your national scout website.

Contingents

Contingents are the representative national groups that come to the World Scout Moot. They are mainly composed of Participants, Unit Leaders, IST and Contingent Staff - and there is one contingent per country. Contingents are the organizing groups which makes the preparations for Scouts from their countries to attend the Moot...which involves a great deal of work!

As Contingents require a great deal of information to help them best prepare for this fantastic experience, we have created a Contingent Information point specifically for Contingent leaders, where they can locate specific and more detailed information. This is accessible after the contingent registration, which will be available from the Moot Office.

If your country has not yet registered a Head of Contingent, please contact the Moot Office as soon as possible.

Visitors

Visitors will be able to come to the Moot site during the event and get a taste for ultimate discovery experience. We'll let you know more information as soon as this is available.

Partners

The World Scout Moot is an enormous project, run for the most part by volunteers. There are thousands of willing and capable Scouts working on the event. But willing volunteers aside, it takes the support and generosity of many others within the community to make the event possible.

Partners within the volunteer and non-government sector are very important to us. Their knowledge and materials help us, most particularly in our programme activities.

Local authorities are indispensable to the Moot, providing competence, resources and cooperation for all our logistics and so much more.

Companies and corporate sponsors will provide much needed resources, competence and skills, economic backing and support for our volunteers in managing their professional commitments while taking part in the Moot.

Private sponsors will also help to ensure that the Moot has access to the funds and resources needed to bring as many Scouts as possible, from all Scouting countries around the world, to the event.

To ensure that the Moot becomes the magnificent event we all hope to deliver, it will take knowledge and expertise, physical materials and financial resources from our partners. These partners will be able to experience the World Scout Moot and to share this experience with all the participants.

Why not take this unique opportunity to support the largest youth event of its kind in the world, offering thousands of adolescents from all around the world the chance to participate in workshops and activities on a range of topics in international Co-operation and Understanding, community service and community development, adventure in the wilderness, leadership development to help them play an important role in their community when they return home.

Get Involved

Together, we will create the 13th World Scout Moot! Delivering the ultimate discovery camp experience for the participants will require a great deal of people planning ahead and even more of us contributing on the campsite during the Moot. There are several ways to be involved and we hope that you will find something that's right for you!

International Service Team (IST)

Would you like to be part of the Moot and deliver an amazing experience for thousands of young people? If you have turned 26 by the start of the Moot, you are welcome to participate as a member of the International Service Team (IST), an exciting opportunity. The IST Experience is a modern programme relevant to the challenges of today's society, based on the Scout Method. You will belong to an IST patrol, which will need to be prepared to take on any task needed to make the Moot a reality! The programme will also include IST briefing, so you can develop as scout leader, and as an individual, and in turn contribute to development of the Scout Movement. You should apply through your National Contingent.

Moot Action Team

The Action Team is appointed to plan and prepare the 13th World Scout Moot. We are now busy recruiting members to all departments in the organization. The tasks require commitment, leadership skills and planning experience.  We welcome all active Scouts to fill in our online application. Please note that all applicants will need the approval from their National Scout Organization and will have to follow the procedures of their NSO. We need people from now onwards and all the way up to 2010 as volunteers.

Sponsors

Would you like to help the young people of the world today to become active citizens locally and globally? At the World Scout Moot at least 3000 participants and staff will meet.  There are many ways to contribute.

External Partners

The World Scout Movement is an educational movement for young people. It has excellent relationships globally and locally with many Non-Governmental Organizations who are experts in areas which present challenges for the young people in the world today. The World Scout Moot will work closely together with these partners. Please read more about how your organization can get involved.

Home Hospitality

As a Kenyan Scout you can invite visiting Scouts to come and experience your country and see what it is like to live there as a young person. This is an opportunity for everyone whether you are taking part in the Moot, or staying at home. More information for Kenyan Scout Units on how to get involved in Home Hospitality will be available soon.
