PRATICAL INFORMATION IN PREPARING FOR YOUR TRIP TO KENYA

EQUIPMENT

WHAT DOES A SCOUT NEED TO BRING?
Personal camping gear includes-

  1. Walking boots-or strong shoes
  2. Foot wear to get wet that are fully strapped-not flip flops
  3. A full set of water proof jacket and trouser to prevent you from the night chill and water
  4. Long trousers and shirt –either long or short sleeved
  5. Clothes to get wet in
  6. A hat  for the sun or rain and a jumper or a warm jacket
  7. Good  UV  blocking creams especially for the Mombasa  and Mount Kenya participants and sun glasses( no jeans for scouts who  will climb the mountain)
  8. Full scout uniform for both opening and closing ceremonies.
  9. A camera to capture the momentous moments-optional
  10. Toiletries-this includes soaps, toothpaste, bath towels, sanitary towels
  11. Traditional attire for cultural night –this is one’s own traditional country attire.
  12. At least two DVS or CDs for cultural music
  13. Medicines  for those on permanent medications
  14. A Warm sleeping bag
  15. Cups, plates and spoons
  16. Torch
  17. And of course badges and any other items for exchange!

Crew equipment
We shall have working crews of ten scouts and each crew needs to bring the following

  1. Tents- This can be at most a  “two man tent” since the crews will have at least two people from each country( we shall make arrangements to have some  on sale prior to the event )

The host country will provide the following to the working crews of ten scouts each

  1. 3 sufurias
  2. 1 mwiko
  3. I chopping board
  4. Water jug
  5. A bucket
  6. Plastic basin
  7. Sieve
  8. Plastic bags to store the daily  rations             
  9. Lamps
  10. Knives
  11. 1 Gas cooker
